Travel as Inspiration

Ola everyone!
this is my first post from a break...
Wayne and I went to Spain.
Travelling is eye opening, and literally expands the horizons. For artists, it is always a source of inspiration.
Both with completely new vistas, and a fresh eye cast on familiar surroundings once back home.
There are many who post while away...but I prefer not to these days, so I hope you'll understand my absence.

It was wonderful! there were gardens and orange trees galore....

Lots of magnificent tile work.

And, a visit to the home and museum of one of my favorite artists, Joaquin Sorolla.
There were many masterworks like this one which rarely leave Spain.

My favorites, however were the numerous plein air works and studies that filled two rooms on the upper floors.
it was a wonderful insight in to the actual working process of an artist who captured sunlight so beautifully. I'll never forget the first time I viewed his works at the Hispanic Society in New York. It was a dreary winter day, and the large sun drenched canvases brought tears to my eyes. So, it was just so wonderful to visit the master's home.
I will be studying the images for years to come!
Thank you, Joaquin.
